Grief doesn’t follow a timetable.

Sometimes we need company in it. Sometimes we need quiet. Sometimes we need to talk, create, remember, cry, laugh, rest or simply have somewhere we don’t need to pretend that everything is okay.

Meet your host Amber

Amber Louise is training as a grief coach, is a qualified celebrant and holistic therapist. Her life experience is what qualifies her to assist others through their own journeys wherever they are right now. This day of remembrance comes after years of grieving the loss of her daughter who died by suicide aged just 26 years old, her father shortly afterwards having already lost her mother and sister years previously. Amber believes her faith and spiritual tools have given her the strength to come through such adversity so that she can help others in their grief, in their challenges and their struggles.

I am now offering Personal Remembrance Retreats from my home in Plymouth.

These are deeply personal experiences created for one person, or for two people who already know one another and would like to experience the retreat together - perhaps a partner, friend, relative or someone with whom you share a loss or simply feel safe.

This is not a group retreat and you will not be placed with somebody you don’t know.

This is your space, and your day will be created around you.

Before your retreat, we will have an informal, no-obligation conversation about you, your grief, the person or loss you are remembering, what you hope to receive from the experience and, importantly, what feels comfortable for you.

I will then talk you through a menu for your day - a selection of practical, creative, meditative, relaxing and healing experiences from which we can create something personal to you.

Your menu can include:

• Creating a crystal grid

• Creating a natural mandala

• Creating a supportive sacred spray using crystals, botanicals and carefully selected essential oils

• Letter writing or journalling

• Creating a personal remembrance altar

• Meditation and guided relaxation

• CROSS Healing

• Crystal Healing

• Reiki

• Indian Head Massage

• Angelic Healing

• Sound Healing

• A deeply relaxing Sound Bath

• Quiet time for rest and reflection

There may be other possibilities that emerge through our conversation too.

We won’t try to do everything.

This isn’t about filling five hours with as many activities as possible.

Together, we will select the elements that feel most supportive for you, your grief and where you are in your journey right now, creating a balance between doing, receiving and simply being.

Nothing will be included without discussion and agreement beforehand. You don’t have to participate in anything that doesn’t feel right for you, and if something feels different when you arrive, we can adapt.

If two of you choose to share a Personal Remembrance Retreat, the day will be created around you both. You may wish to experience much of it together while also having some individual time.

For example, while one person receives their chosen one-to-one healing treatment, the other might spend some peaceful time elsewhere in the cottage creating, writing, journalling, reflecting, resting or simply enjoying a cup of tea. You can then swap if you have both chosen individual treatments.

Lunch is part of your day too.

We’ll discuss your preferences and dietary requirements beforehand, and a vegetarian or vegan lunch will be provided, alongside refreshments throughout your retreat.

A Personal Remembrance Retreat will typically take place from 11am-4pm, although because this is a bespoke experience, we can discuss what feels most appropriate for you.

You are not restricted to predetermined retreat dates. If, following our initial conversation, we both feel this offering is right for you, we can agree a mutually convenient date during or after our call.

Travelling from further afield?

If you live further away and feel drawn to a Personal Remembrance Retreat, please don’t let the distance prevent you from getting in touch.

There may be the possibility of extending your experience across two days, allowing us to create something even more spacious and unhurried.

Depending upon availability and individual circumstances, it may also be possible to arrange an overnight stay here at the cottage, giving you time to rest between the two days rather than having to travel immediately afterwards.

A two-day retreat would, just like the one-day experience, be created personally for you - or for you and the friend, relative or partner attending with you. We would discuss the pace, activities, treatments, meals and time for rest together beforehand.

Any overnight stay or additional retreat day would be arranged and priced separately as part of your individual retreat.

If travelling to Plymouth has previously felt like a barrier, please do ask. We can simply have a conversation and explore what might be possible.

Moving towards the latter part of the year

As we move through autumn and towards the latter months of the year, grief can sometimes feel particularly present.

Changing seasons, darker evenings, traditions and eventually the approach of the festive period can bring memories and emotions closer to the surface.

You may therefore feel drawn to arranging a retreat during November as a gentle way of supporting yourself before we move into that period.

Equally, your retreat might surround a birthday, anniversary or another significant date — or there may be no particular date at all.

Sometimes we simply recognise that we need some dedicated space for ourselves and our grief.

Investment

Because every Personal Remembrance Retreat is individually created, there is no single fixed price.

The cost will depend upon the experiences and materials we choose together, the length of your retreat and whether the experience is for one person or two.

If we explore an extended two-day experience or overnight stay, this will also be reflected in your individual price.

We will discuss everything openly during your initial conversation, and you will know the full cost before deciding whether you would like to go ahead.

There is absolutely no obligation to book following our conversation.

An important note about the support I offer

I am a spiritual holistic wellness coach and holistic practitioner, and I am currently training in grief coaching. I bring my professional holistic experience alongside my own lived experience of profound bereavement to the spaces I create.

I am not a qualified counsellor, psychotherapist or mental-health professional.

A Personal Remembrance Retreat is not counselling or therapy and is not intended to replace appropriate professional mental-health or bereavement support.

This is also one of the reasons every retreat begins with a conversation.

It gives us both an opportunity to explore what you are looking for, what I can offer and whether this particular experience feels appropriate for you at this point in your journey.

There may occasionally be circumstances where, following our conversation, I don’t feel that my particular offering is the right form of support for someone’s needs at that time. If that happens, I will always be open about this and encourage the person to seek appropriately qualified support.

Above all, I want anyone coming into my home for a Personal Remembrance Retreat to feel safe, comfortable, heard and completely at ease with what we have chosen together.
